Austrian Doctor Allegedly Allows Her 13-year-old Daughter To Drill Hole In Patient's Head
The hospital confirmed that the surgeon has been temporarily suspended.

An Austrian Neurosurgeon is currently under investigation after she allegedly allowed her 13-year-old daughter to drill a hole in the patient’s skull during the operation. Earlier this year, in January, a 33-year-old man had an accident after which he was admitted to the University Hospital Graz, in the Austrian city of Graz. The name of the female neurosurgeon who is under investigation has not been revealed to the public to protect her privacy. Luckily, the operation succeeded and the injured man returned to normal life. The January incident remained under wraps till July after someone complained about it in the public prosecutor’s office in Graz about the minor’s involvement.

According to a report, the investigation into this shocking case is currently underway. The Graz hospital confirmed that the surgeon who operated and a senior surgeon who assisted her have both been temporarily suspended. These two are suspected of causing bodily harm, while the five hospital staff who accompanied them during the procedure are being investigated under the accusation of ‘failure to prevent an act that is punishable by law.’

The patient whose skull the 13-year-old girl drilled into is preparing to sue the hospital. He claimed that he had no idea about the minor girl’s involvement in the operation until he recently heard about it in the press. He had a faint idea about how much the incident sounded like his own but back in July, police informed him that he was the victim. He has hired a lawyer for the case named Peter Freiberger.

“You lie there, unwilling, unconscious, and become a guinea pig. There’s probably no other way to put it, that’s not possible. You can’t do that. There has been no contact, no explanation or apology, nothing. That is simply undignified,” Peter Freiberger, the man’s lawyer said.

Mr Freiberger is asking for compensation for the pain and suffering caused by the client. He claims that although the surgery was successful, his client has been unable to work. The University Hospital Graz stated that there is no concrete evidence that the daughter herself took part in the operation. Due to the seriousness of the case, the hospital has expressed its utmost regret and extended its sincere apologies for this incident.
