Bengaluru Groom Arrives On E-Scooter At Wedding Venue, Internet Not Surprised
At the baraat, the groom and some other people were seen dancing next to an electric vehicle.

When we think of Indian weddings, we envision grand entrances, loud music, tons of food and glamorously dressed brides and grooms. But in Bengaluru, a groom chose an electric bike over the customary horse and luxury car. The Bengaluru man rode an Ather electric bike to his wedding instead of riding a horse. At the baraat, or groom’s entrance party, he and others were seen dancing next to an electric vehicle (EV).

“Horses in weddings are being replaced by Ather,” Peak Bengaluru, a famous X account that documents the city’s startup and technology culture, captioned the photo. The post was shared on May 13 and has received over 45,000 views.

The electric vehicle in the photo is the recently introduced Ather Rizta. According to reports, Darshan Patel, an industrial designer employed by Ather Energy, married last weekend.

Meanwhile, Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, put out a post stating that the groom wanted to make his baraat entry on Rizta, therefore the firm made it happen. “So, this happened last weekend. Darshan wanted to make his baraat entry on Rizta and we had to make it happen for his grand entrance. And, why not? Rizta is all about family,” Mehta wrote on X. He also shared a video of the baraat’s grand entrance as well as a photo of the groom posing on the Rizta. In addition, the clip shared by Mehta garnered more than 9,000 views.

The photographs and video generated a buzz on X, with many users impressed by the groom’s creative approach to his wedding. A user said, “Bangalore marriages are built differently.” Another commented, “Zero emission horse”.

Speaking about the traffic condition in Bengaluru, a user wrote, “The way the traffic gets crazy is better for us to get 2 wheeler than other vehicles.” One more remarked saying, “Just bangluru things.”

In January, a similar case happened when a video of the groom and his ‘baarat’ arrived at the wedding venue on Yulu bikes. What is your take on this new approach?

What's your reaction?
