A deeply unsettling video has surfaced, showing a heartbreaking incident in Davenport, Iowa in the US where a police official shot and killed a family’s dog in front of two children. The footage, which has rapidly spread on social media, captures the moment leading up to the tragic event. The video released by the family, depicts the cop, Ethan Bock, arriving at the scene as the children were playing with their dog in an alleyway. The boys were riding their bikes while their dog, Myst, joyfully followed them. After the officer instructed the boys to leash their pet, he exited his vehicle and approached their home as the children were complying.
Don Hesseltine, the dog’s owner, expressed his disbelief on X, writing, “I’m at a loss for words. A Davenport, IA police officer drives by and tells my kid to put his dog on a leash. As the kids are doing so he decides he’s going to get out of the car and come up to the house as they are complying.”

Just as the boys were following the cop’s instructions, the situation took a devastating turn. Myst, who began barking, ran towards the official. In response, the cop drew his gun and fatally shot the dog, all while the two children and the mother were watching.
“The dog runs up to him and he decides his best option is to draw his gun and murder our dog in front of my child, his cousin, and his mother all while they are standing there and could have easily been shot as well,” Hesseltine wrote.
The two boys and the mother could be heard screaming and sobbing as the gunshots rang out and they watched their beloved pet collapse in pain before succumbing to the injuries just steps away from their home.
Heres is the West Ally view, perhaps it lets add a little context to the events that led up to the shooting … the cop was dispatched to a call that was a few blocks away from here and was looking for 4 dogs trying to get into some ladies yard and trying to attack her dog. One user commented, “That was tough to watch. Tail was wagging when the dog got there, that’s not a mean dog. That officer is a coward, I hope you and your family get justice.”

The incident occurred just weeks after the same officer was reportedly involved in another case, where he allegedly struck a different dog in the area, as reported by New York Post. The police, who are still investigating the latest incident, defended the officer’s actions, stating that he fired his weapon only after the dog became aggressive, reported the outlet.
