Family Spots This Alarming Detail In Photos After Beach Day
Close inspection of the family photo reveals a dark shape resembling a shark fin moving through the shallow waters near two men and a dog.

A simple family beach picture has stirred an intense online discussion due to a subtle detail in the background. Captured at Australia’s Carrum Beach, the photo initially features a delightful moment of a smiling toddler and her father waving towards the camera. However, a close inspection of the image reveals a dark shape resembling a shark fin moving through the shallow waters near two men and a dog. Shared on Facebook by SES Chelsea Unit, the photo instigated debates and left social media concerned. In the post, the Unit mentioned reports of an unconfirmed shark sighting at Bonbeach and Chelsea Beach on the previous day.

They further revealed that a family at Carrum Beach had stumbled upon a suspicious thing while going through their photographer and were curious about its origin.

The unit shared, “We posted about a shark sighting, just off the beach, between Bonbeach and Chelsea. Well later, we received a message from a family, who followed our page, who were at Carrum Beach, earlier in the morning. It was their little one’s first visit to the beach and the gentleman’s partner grabbed a couple of snaps to record the day. Later, when they got home and looked at the pictures, they noticed something in the shallow water, just behind them, was this our shark?"

SES Chelsea Unit added, “Now I have to admit, when I saw the pictures, I wasn’t sure what they were, so I have contacted a number of places to ask their opinions and they all agree that although they can’t confirm it’s a shark, they can’t say that it’s not. The family are very genuine and in fairness, they’re the first to admit that they’re not sure what they snapped, but they certainly would like to know."

Soon after the picture was posted on Facebook, some questioned that such marine creatures typically avoid shallow waters close to the shore and would likely be noticed by beachgoers. A few expressed doubts about the object being a shark and claimed it’s another type of creature or object.

A user shared, “It’s highly unlikely that a shark cruising in the shallows would not be seen and those in the photo not aware. Sharks when cruising shallows travel in line with the beach and are easy to see. This makes people yell out a lot to make everyone aware, so doubt it could get that close without someone raising the alarm."

Another wondered, “I didn’t realise they come into the beach so close, if it is a shark."

An individual quipped, “The dog on the left is looking at his owner saying ‘uuumm Dad look I’m loyal and all that but if that thing comes any closer I’m outta here’."

Another suggested, “I mean this is not a small shark, but a baby whale. Shark is not that dark."

A user wrote, “Couldn’t be a very big one, given the size of the dog and the depth of the water."

Apart from these comments, additional social media users shared their own theories regarding the animal or object.
