Job Post Asking Work-Life Balance Seekers To Stay Away Sparks Debate
Reddit users have expressed their displeasure with a company's job posting that imposed a specific condition.

Maintaining a healthy work-life balance can feel unattainable in today’s fast-paced corporate world. We’ve all had gruelling hours, dreadful weekend work, and unexpected deadlines that threw our personal lives off track. While some establishments are trying to make the lives of their employees easier and there is a major conversation around achieving work-life balance, this company is going viral for defying it all. Reddit users have expressed their displeasure with a company’s job posting. Aside from the regular qualifications, the corporation imposed a specific condition. They stated that candidates seeking work-life balance should not be applying.

A screenshot of the viral job posting was shared on Reddit with the caption, “Work/life balance? Never heard of her.” The user who posted the pictures added that they wanted to apply just to see how far the interview would go. The job posting clearly mentioned, “If your goal in life is to have a work/life balance, then please don’t apply.” Stating their reasons behind this rule, the company mentioned that it is usually an excuse used by people who are looking for a reason not to work. The company added, “We are not a company that wants to work all of the time, but we understand that it is a required part of life, so work is life as well. They are not exclusive.”

The company seems to go by the old saying “Work hard, play hard.” They stated that currently most people seem to want to “play hard and work as little as possible” and that does not go well with them. “Enjoying the fruits of your labour is an amazing thing,” stated the post.

The post received several reactions. While some were frustrated at the company for making the lives of their employees miserable, others thought it was good that the firm was upfront about their ideology.

A user stated, “This should be printed on a red flag.” Many pointed out that long working hours will ultimately exhaust the employees. “As if I would have enough energy to play hard after a day of work,” said one while another expressed, “Can’t enjoy the fruits of your labour if all you do is work.”

There were many who sarcastically stated, “It’s good of them to put that enormous red flag right out front. Saved a lot of time and effort when you know the scam up front,” “Some post salary ranges, some post manifestos. Either way, we can thank them for not wasting our energy.”
