People generally find it difficult to pursue other endeavours while working full-time. One man from Muzaffarpur, Bihar named Mohd Sakaullah proved this wrong. Despite working as a government employee, he rears poultry in his spare time. As per reports, Mohd Sakaullah – who works as a clerk – is earning good profit from his venture. Besides, he has also given training to many people till now. According to him, he earns a good amount from poultry farming. With this, he is now living a better life and is able to provide for his children with better education facilities. In a recent media interaction, Mohd Sakaullah said that during a financial crisis, he had saved Rs 15,000. With this saved money, he started rearing an indigenous breed of chicken called Kadaknath in 2016. Today, while working, he earns more than Rs 50,000 every month from his part-time business. He further says that, for him, it is a matter of honour to do the job with truth and honesty. He initiated this startup to support his family.
Sakaullah says that the job salary was not able to meet the expenses of his family. When his children grew up, running the household became more difficult. Children’s school fees had to be paid. For this reason, he was looking for a part-time business. Then he came to know about Kadaknath chicken. After which, he ordered 100 chicks from Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh and started rearing them. After this, a large number of eggs started being laid. Now, he is taking his work forward through online marketing. People from Bettiah, Sasaram, Begusarai, and many other districts contact him, and his business has grown widely.
Kadaknath or all-black chicken has been generating a lot of buzz among health enthusiasts. As per reports, the native of Madhya Pradesh (MP), Kadaknath, is prominently found in the Jhabua district of the state. This chicken is also known as black chicken or Kali Masi because of its black meat. In 2018, this Jhabua district chicken was also tagged with a Geographical Indication (GI).
Reports suggest this chicken has a better nutrient profile as compared to commercial chicken. When compared to broiler meat, its flesh is lower in fat, but rich in high moisture, and protein. The Kadaknath chicken is higher in 11 amino acid content, while the broiler is higher in 3 amino acid content.
