This Pizza Delivery Driver Won Rs 5 Crore Lottery But Was Back At Work The Next Day
Marius Preda, clinched the Best of the Best prize draw, an amount equivalent to about 200 times his annual earnings.

We’ve all had those moments where we dream of winning the lottery – imagining what we would do with all that money, planning out our future, and basking in the fantasy of buying all that we want. While most of us are happy daydreaming, for Marius Preda, a pizza delivery driver from Tamworth, Staffordshire, this dream became a reality when he clinched the Best of the Best (BOTB) prize draw last month. He won a staggering £500,000 (approx. Rs 5 crore). This amount is almost equivalent to about 200 times his annual earnings.

Preda has been delivering pizzas for Papa John’s at an hourly wage of about £12 (Rs 1,272 per hour) for several years. Now his life has taken a surprising turn with this monumental win. Marius, 28, shares his home with his wife and child. He told The Metro that he was in total disbelief and overwhelmed with joy as soon as he received the news of his victory.

“I’m going to take some time to think about it, but we would love to buy a new house and go on holiday,” he shared, contemplating a potential trip back to Romania, his homeland, from where he moved to the United Kingdom in 2019 in search of a better livelihood, reports The Metro.

Despite the newfound financial security, Marius remains committed to his pizza delivery job, which continues to provide him with an annual sum of £24,960 (approx. Rs 26,00,000). Marius was back at work the very next day after winning the lottery.

Reflecting on his fortune, Marius says, “I’m absolutely delighted to have won and I am full of emotions. Winning this amount of money is life-changing and it’s going to take some time to sink in.”

The generous half a million pounds now rests in Marius’s bank account and is the largest cash prize ever dispensed by BOTB. It is a game where participants compete for prizes by correctly answering a single question. A spokesperson for BOTB commended Marius for his swift return to work and his aspirations of securing a new home for his family.

While talking to The Metro, BOTB presenter Christian Williams extended his heartfelt congratulations to Marius, acknowledging the significance of the win in light of current challenges. “I know how hard it is for a lot of people at the moment, and it is a life-changing amount of money. It has got to be the best tip any delivery driver has ever received,” he added.
