While the bond between fathers and sons is often discussed, the relationship between grandfathers and their grandchildren also holds a special place. Recently, a touching video surfaced on Instagram, shared by Majically News, featuring a grandfather becoming emotional as his grandson expressed his desire to follow in his footsteps.
In the video, the child gives a sweet speech in front of a small audience, where he declares his intention to become a firefighter, inspired by his beloved grandpa, once he grows up. He ends his speech by calling his grandfather the best, which brings tears to the firefighter’s eyes.
The video starts with the elderly man eagerly waiting for his grandson’s speech to begin. The footage then shows the little boy reading his speech from a piece of paper and saying, “When I grow up, I want to be a firefighter, because my grandpa was one, and he’s the best grandpa ever.” Meanwhile, soon after hearing the inspiring words of his grandson, the grandfather is seen wiping tears from his eyes. Sharing the video, the page wrote, “Don’t worry, grandpa, we’re crying with you.”

Since the video was shared on Instagram, it has gone viral and garnered over 2 lakh views. Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “Who’s crying? Not me.” Another shared, “Dang grandkids. They are the best.” “Cracked him like an egg lol. Love to see it,” a comment read. Another wrote, “My grandpa was a firefighter, too. Deputy Chief of Manhattan until he retired in 1973. He was a pretty amazing grandpa as well.” An individual shared, “This love and connection is the reason for living. For all of us.”
While the little boy in the video has many years ahead before fulfilling his dream of becoming a firefighter, previously, a woman named, Alerah Turpin made headlines after she joined her grandfather at the Fort Worth Fire Department, where her grandpa, Mike Walters, has been serving for 37 years.
Talking to CBS, Turpin said, “Growing up, I got to watch him. I wasn’t too familiar with it when I was younger. I just knew my pawpaw was a firefighter. He has this cool job. I’m always seeing pictures of him standing in flames and saving horses.” While Walters added, “Watching her graduate from here to me was more touching to me than graduating from high school. I never dreamt any of them would want to follow in my footsteps.”
Interestingly, the pair are making history as they became the first active grandparent and grandchild to work together since the Fort Worth Fire Department was established 131 years ago.
