Jason Holton, known as Britain’s heaviest man, passed away last Saturday at the age of 33, just a few days before his 34th birthday. His grieving mother, Leisa Holton is worried that they may not be able to find a chamber big enough to cremate him. Jason was a resident of Camberley, in Surrey who weighed 317 kg at the time of his death. The cause of his death is being reported as organ failure and obesity. His mother Leisa wishes to give him a “proper send off”, but is unable to find a place big enough to accommodate him.
Talking to the Sun, Leisa said, “Jason wanted to be cremated but there are concerns he might be too wide for the chamber.” She added that his weight is not the concern but believes that he may be too wide to fit in a hearse. Sharing her financial concerns of the funeral she stated that they cannot afford the needed burial for him. She spoke further, “We need to give him a proper send off. I miss him a hell of a lot. I loved him very much.”
After his death, Jason was transferred to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, his mother staying close to him. He was carried in a special ambulance and with the help of six firefighters, he was transferred to the hospital.
As per reports, the death of Jason’s father played a big role in his obesity and weight gain. In an earlier interview, Jason himself talked about how his father’s death, when he was just three, impacted his life. He also had to deal with bullying at school, while going through mental health issues, which became major reasons for his weight gain.
He told a media portal, “Maybe if I had my father around, maybe there would be rules set to what I’m eating and stuff to stop me putting things and stuff in my mouth.” Leisa acknowledged that it was hard for her to control him without her partner.
