Movies often leave an impact on us. Some scare us to death, others make us laugh our hearts out, and a few leave us crying inconsolably. When the story and the characters resonate with the masses, it generates an influx of emotions. They also hold some sort of influence in our lives. Recently, an X (formerly Twitter) user shared her experience of watching the 2007 Bollywood film Taare Zameen Par, featuring Aamir Khan as the lead. Her reaction to watching the heartwarming tale has now taken the internet by storm.

Dropping a screenshot of the movie’s poster on X, the user wrote, “Just finished watching: like stars on earth (2007)”. Adjacent to the poster, she also showed a picture of herself, smiling through tears — an expression that many movie buffs might have encountered after watching this Aamir Khan and Amole Gupte directorial. She gestured a thumbs-up, indicating that Taare Zameen Par had struck the right chords and she found the film to be a tear-jerking experience.

As soon as the post surfaced on the internet, social media users jumped into the comment section to react to the post. So far, it has garnered over 1.8 million views.

“If you liked this movie and would want to watch more like it, I’d recommend this one called “Stanley ka Dabba” (Stanley’s Tiffin Box)”. It’s from the same writer and creative director of this movie and is incredibly touching as well,” suggested one movie aficionado.

Highlighting a particular scene from the film, another person wrote, “I remember when this film was released and the boarding school I was at, screened the film, gathering all the students at the dining hall. Cried oceans when Ishaan was sent to the boarding school and the song “Maa” plays.”

An individual found “The English version of the movie title” very “funny”. “Aamir Khan movies are extremely touching,” came an honest remark. “The intended effect. We’ve all been there. Every Indian kid of my generation relates with this movie,” read another comment.

Taare Zameen Par revolved around a dyslexic student Ishaan (Darsheel Safary), sent to a boarding school by his parents who thought that his academic failures were a result of indiscipline. Aamir Khan played a supportive teacher Ram, helping Ishaan to find his potential and allowing him to follow his dreams. The film sheds light on the learning disorder and how parents often do not realise the medical condition.
