The internet is filled with videos of people unexpectedly coming across precious gems or metals in deserted and old places. But this one woman found something antique that made her eyes light up and she could not resist taking to social media to share her treasure which she found while treasure-hunting in the river in England. The video piqued the interest of the internet and garnered more than a million views on Instagram.
A woman named Jane’s Instagram account, named My Ordinary Treasure, is filled with photos and videos of her finds from the streams and rivers around the South of England. She often goes about with her metal detector in the water bodies to find small treasures. She has previously found Roman coins, metal anchors, glass structures and a mug. This time, she searched for treasure in one of the rives in Southern England and stumbled upon an antique diamond ring.
She went to the river with her metal detector. Her foot stumbled a little and she found something shiny. As per the media, she found the most interesting antic thing in the river. She saw a beautiful ring made of diamond and gold in front of her eyes. She also shared that she had never found a ring before.
The caption read, “Diamonds are forever! With love, from the river. This morning, I experienced a moment of pure wonder as I was fortunate enough to retrieve this stunning 18ct gold and platinum diamond solitaire ring from the sparkling waters. It was easy to spot—the gold band gleamed brightly among the river gravels, just as it did the day it was dropped, gently fluttering to the bottom of the crystal-clear waters.”
She continued, “This is the first diamond ring I’ve ever found, dating back to the early 1970s. It was likely worn as an engagement ring and given the remote location where it was discovered, I can only surmise that it was deliberately cast away sometime in the last 50 years. A poignant find, rich with emotion, it leaves one to wonder how this symbol of love came to represent a love lost.”
A comment read, “It’s sad because at one time that ring meant everything to someone. Did it slip off her finger and she forever mourned its loss? Was it stolen? Did she intentionally throw it in the water in a fit of rage or intense grief?” Another wrote, “It would be so magical if you were able to find the owner or the family.”
