On This Day: Alien Invasion Fear Gripped Brazil Town After Cop's Murder. The Mystery Still Remains
Did demonic aliens visit a small Brazilian town marking the first, truest encounter between aliens and humans?

A string of unanswered questions surrounding a crashing of an unidentified flyig object (UFO) dating back to an event from 1996 continues to puzzle residents of Brazilian town of Varginha till date. Residents of the city, almost three decades ago, on January 20 panicked and called the military and the fire department to report evidence of extraterrestrial life – an incident that would later be dubbed the “Roswell of Brazil”.

The incident sparked curiosity and concerns because zoo animals collapsed and died and cop who grabbed the ‘alien’ mysteriously died without any explanation. The city that lies 290 kilometres northwest of Rio de Janeiro in the state of Minas Gerais was obsessed for several months with a grey, submarine-shaped object the size of a minibus which crash landed there.

Government officials there have claimed that the alien sightings were a dwarf couple and a dirty disabled man. But neither the officials nor the witnesses have been able to prove or disprove one another.

A report by UK-based newspaper The Sun said that Brazilian government and military were aided by ‘lucky coincidences and cover-ups’ while multiple eyewitnesses claim that the creature was 100% not a human.

They said the creature had wobbly legs and appeared as if it was sick and injured from the crash. The locals also claimed that it had two huge red balls for eyes and brown, oily skin. It appeared to be hairless.

They also claim that the creature was tracked down by the police who were themselves shocked. A 23-year-old officer Marco Eli Chereze was first to come into contact with the creature and he fell ill later with a strange illness. Chereze tried to grab the creature.

Weeks later, he died after suffering a full-body infection.

Locals says that they saw a strange metal object slowly falling out of the sky before it struck the ground. They also said that there was a powerful and almost overbearing smell of sulphur in the neighbourhood.

When he again spoke to media two decades after the incident he said that he even handled a piece of debris which when he crumpled returned to its original shape. He also said he smelled ammonia which gave out a smell associated with rotten eggs.

“A very strong smell, so strong that I had to cover my nose with the shirt I was wearing. My eyes got watery,” he said.

He revealed he was chased away by the army who were quick to reach the crash site. The armed officers told him to leave immediately.

Army personnel with big military trucks engulfed the town and stopped anyone from coming into the city and did not allow anyone near the crash site.

Other than Carlos, three sisters ranging from 14 to 22-years-old, told their mother that they spotted a “weird object” by their home’s fence.

They described the creature as a large headed “thing with spots like veins on the skin and some bumps on the head”.

“What we saw wasn’t human. It wasn’t an animal either. It wasn’t a man; it wasn’t an animal,” sisters Liliane and Valquiria Silva said. They added that they rushed home after spotting what they called the ‘devil’.

The locals also claimed seeing unidentified creatures being collected and taken to the local hospital to be examined.

Days later military trucks were still in town after locals reported seeing an animal type creature “prowling” around a forest. Days later several unexplained animal deaths in the local zoo occurred.

People who study UFOs alleged that the alien might’ve got the animals pregnant and said that may have caused the deaths.

The Brazilian army report tabled in 2010 blamed the sightings on coincidence and said the three sisters spotted a homeless, mentally and physically unstable man nicknamed “Mudinho”. They said he looked devilish because of being dirty and dishevelled and also because he was mentally unstable.

Explaining their presence in Varginha, the head of the official inquiry said military trucks and people present were simply performing a routine night of duties at a nearby location.

“The departure of the vehicles were real facts incorrectly interpreted as firefighters and the military participating in the capture and later the transport of the alleged creature to Campinas. The presence of the firefighters and the parking of army trucks in the vicinity of the area was where their periodic maintenance would be carried out,” the report said.

They also claimed that the aliens seen were a dwarf couple who were expecting their first child. The Brazilian government continues to deny conspiracy theories claiming it was hiding extraterrestrials.

But residents of the town of Varginha say 28 years ago they were the first ones to have been part of the truest human encounter with aliens ever, the report by The Sun said.

A documentary titled Moment of Contact by James Fox which narrates the incidents from that eventful night in 1996 also claimed citing a military expert that the US government worked with the Brazilian government to get rid of the evidence of extraterrestrial life.
