‘You’re A Star In The World’: Diplomat Lauds EAM Jaishankar in Geneva, He Blushes | Watch
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday arrived in Switzerland’s Geneva after concluding his visit to Germany and Saudi Arabia

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Thursday earned praises while interacting with Ambassador Jean-David Levitte at the Geneva Centre for India’s security policy. However, the event witnessed a rare scene, where Jaishankar can be seen blushing after the Ambassador said, “You are a star in the world…"

As Levitte expressed his pleasure of having the privilege to talk to Jaishankar and said that ‘he is a star in the world’, the EAM could be seen expressing gratitude with folded hands.

Earlier in the day, Jaishankar arrived in Switzerland’s Geneva and started his visit by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi. During his visit, the External Affairs Minister is set to meet the Swiss Foreign Minister to review the close partnership between the two nations and explore avenues to enhance the bilateral ties further.

EAM on QUAD

Talking about the upcoming QUAD Summit set to take place in the United States, the External Affairs Minister said, “We hope that in the coming days, we will have a Quad summit in the US. With the passage of time, there is an increase in reassurance in much of the Indo-Pacific, that it is a net asset to the region."

The 2024 Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) Summit featuring the United States, Australia, India, and Japan will be held at Delaware on September 21.

Earlier, India was slated to host this year’s summit, with the US set to host it in 2025. However, reports indicate that the two countries have agreed to swap hosting duties. The 2024 summit has now moved to the US, while India will host it next year.

Jaishankar On BRICS

When specifically asked about the expansion of BRICS in the near future, Jaishankar hinted towards the absence of India in the G7. “There was another club called G7 and you won’t let anyone else enter the club. So we went on to form our club. As it started it gained a life of its own over the period of time. Others saw value in it as well."
