Air India Flight Hits Tug Tractor At Pune Airport, Passengers Safe
After the accident, passengers had to get off the plane. They were left stranded at the airport but alternative arrangements were quickly made for them.

A Delhi-bound Air India flight with 180 passengers onboard collided with a tug tractor at Pune Airport on Thursday (May 16), according to news agency ANI. Thankfully, no passengers were injured, though the aircraft sustained damage.

The collision damaged the aircraft’s nose and a tyre near the landing gear, as confirmed by an airport official. Despite the accident, all passengers and crew members were reported safe.

After the mishap, passengers were made to disembark. Alternative arrangements were quickly made for the stranded passengers.

According to Hindustan Times, Air India responded by offering full refunds and complimentary rescheduling to affected passengers. “An incident occurred with our aircraft during pushback for the Pune to Delhi flight. The aircraft was held for checks, and all passengers were safely offloaded. The flight was canceled, and full refunds and complimentary rescheduling were provided. Passengers with onward international connections were flown to Delhi by other carriers. An investigation is underway,” the airline stated.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Preliminary reports indicate that the tug truck, which is used to maneuver aircraft on the ground, struck the plane during taxiing.

While the affected aircraft was taken out of service for inspection and repairs, airport operations continued without significant disruption. The aircraft has since been cleared for operations.
