Delhi Traffic Advisory for Kanwar Yatra: List of Routes to Avoid, Road Closures and Diversions
Travellers should stay informed about updated diversion plans and consider using public transportation where possible to ease their journey.

Residents of Delhi-NCR are advised to take note of significant road closures resulting from the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. Major routes between Ghaziabad and Delhi have been restricted, causing considerable inconvenience for commuters. The Ghaziabad Traffic Police had originally planned to implement traffic diversions starting Monday, July 29. However, due to the anticipated surge of Kanwar pilgrims, these measures were enacted earlier, beginning Friday evening. Although the weekend saw relatively less disruption, commuters are now facing significant challenges as the workweek begins.

In light of these closures, it is recommended that those traveling to Delhi explore alternative routes to avoid delays. Travellers should stay informed about updated diversion plans and consider using public transportation where possible to ease their journey.

Alternative Routes Available

With most routes from Ghaziabad to Delhi closed until August 5, travellers are advised to follow these alternatives:

  • Travel from Mohan Nagar/Meerut Tiraha/Rajnagar Extension/Hapur Chungi: Use the lane heading towards Meerut on NH-34 (formerly NH-58).
  • For Vehicles Coming from Palwal/Kundli via Eastern Peripheral Expressway: If your destination is Ghaziabad city, Muradnagar, or Modinagar, exit at Dasna Cut instead of Duhai Cut and proceed via NH-09.
  • For Those Heading to Delhi: Reach New Bus Adda Metro Station by private vehicle or bike. From there, you can easily access Vaishali Metro Station.
  • For Trans Hindon Residents: Use private vehicles to reach the nearest Metro or Railway Station and continue your journey by local train to Delhi.

It is recommended to use private vehicles only to reach Metro or Railway Stations and then switch to public transport.
