Delhi government is gearing up to introduce a WhatsApp-based ticketing system for buses in the national capital, as per officials.
The Transport Department of the city is actively developing this digital ticketing platform, catering to both DTC and cluster buses.
Following the footsteps of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which launched a WhatsApp-based ticketing service in May, the upcoming system is set to bring similar convenience to bus commuters.
The DMRC’s service, initially introduced on the metro, quickly expanded to cover all corridors, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro.
To ensure fair usage, there will be a limit on the number of tickets a user can generate. For those keen on securing Delhi Metro tickets, a simple ‘Hi’ message sent to 91 9650855800 on WhatsApp or a quick scan of the provided QR code will enable effortless smartphone-based purchases across the entire network. It’s worth noting that cancellations won’t be an option with WhatsApp ticketing.
Users can expect a slight convenience fee for credit or debit card transactions, but rejoice—no extra charges apply for those opting for UPI-based transactions.
