Hero MotoCorp And Ather Energy Collaborate For Inter-operable EV Charging Network
Hero MotoCorp & Ather Energy partners to establish India's first inter-operable fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers.

Hero MotoCorp and Ather Energy have teamed up to create an interoperable fast-charging network for electric vehicles in India.

The collaboration marks the creation of the world’s first inter-operable fast-charging electric two-wheeler network, which will cover 100 cities across the country.

The network will boast over 1,900 fast-charging points, making it easier for people to charge their electric vehicles quickly and efficiently.

The initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of EVs by providing a seamless and efficient charging infrastructure accessible to both Hero MotoCorp’s Vida and Ather Energy’s grids. The interoperable network is set to alleviate range anxiety and significantly contribute to the growth of the EV sector in India.

Users of electric two-wheelers from both Hero MotoCorp and Ather Energy will benefit from the interoperability, allowing them to locate compatible charging stations effortlessly. Through the My Vida and Ather App, customers can discover nearby charging points, check their availability and receive navigation assistance to reach the selected station.

Commenting on this transformative collaboration, Dr Swadesh Srivastava, Chief Business Officer – Emerging Mobility BU, Hero MotoCorp, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are happy to extend our association with Ather Energy through this interoperable fast-charging network. VIDA’s brand promise is building a ‘Worry-free EV ecosystem,’ and this largest charging network in the country will go a long way in providing a seamless & convenient ownership experience to customers,” reports HT Auto.

The interoperable network utilises the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS), India’s first-ever AC and DC combined charging connector for light electric vehicles. Recently approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), LECCS ensures that current and future EV customers can utilise and charge their vehicles hassle-free.

Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Ather Energy, emphasised the significance of the partnership, stating, “It’s a massive win for Indian OEMs to collaborate on scaling up charging infrastructure. This partnership will pave the way for consumers to access an extensive network of charging stations across the country, alleviating range anxiety,” reports ET Auto.

Jain further highlighted the technical superiority of LECCS and its benefits for other OEMs, stating, “We believe that public charging infrastructure for two-wheelers is now set for collaborative expansion.”
