Tamil Nadu Gets Two New Vande Bharat Trains; Check Out Fares and Timings Here

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two new Vande Bharat trains for Tamil Nadu on Saturday via video conferencing: the Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat and the Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat trains. Here are the fare details for these premium trains anoounced by the Southern Railway.

From Chennai to Nagercoil, the train fare is Rs 1,760 for ordinary class and Rs 3,240 for higher class. The Chennai-Trichy fare is Rs 955 for ordinary class and Rs 1,790 for higher class. The Chennai-Madurai fare is Rs 1,200 for ordinary class and Rs 2,295 for higher class.

The train fare on the Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat route is as follows: From Madurai to Dindigul, the fare is Rs 440, till Trichy it is Rs 555, till Karur it is Rs 795, till Namakkal Rs 845, Salem Rs 935, Krishnarajapuram Rs 1,555, and Bengaluru Cantonment Rs 1,575.

For those travelling in higher class, from Madurai to Bengaluru Cantonment, the fare is Rs 2,865. For other intermediate stops like Trichy, the fare is Rs 1,075, for Karur it is Rs 1,480, for Namakkal Rs 1,575, Salem Rs 1,760, and Krishnarajapuram Rs 2,835.

The Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat train features 16 coaches, and the Madurai-Bengaluru service will have eight coaches. Both the new trains will be operational from September 2. The Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express is the first Vande Bharat connecting the scenic town of Nagercoil with Chennai.

The Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat and the Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat trains will save more than two hours and around 1.30 hours, respectively. Five Vande Bharat trains are already in operation in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing the flag-off ceremony via video conferencing, PM Modi said faster growth of southern states is key to achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The Prime Minister also said that an increased budgetary allocation to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka has strengthened rail transport in southern states.

In addition to these, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Vande Bharat Express connecting Meerut and Lucknow. The Meerut city-Lucknow Vande Bharat will help passengers save around one hour in comparison to the current fastest train between the two cities.
