Actors Dingri Nagaraj, Bank Janardhan Among Karnataka's 68th Rajyotsava Awardees
Mimicry Dayanand, a popular actor, standup artist and TV presenter, has also been awarded.

The 68th Rajyotsava Awards were announced by the Karnataka state government on Tuesday. Kannada actors Dingri Nagaraj and Bank Janardhan along with Mimicry Dayanand (known for his stand-up performances) have been chosen to be conferred with the honour this year.

While Dingri Nagaraj is a renowned Kannada actor, known for his roles in films like Solillada Saradara (1992), Dore (1995), and Bangarada Kalasha (1995), Bank Janardhan has been entertaining the masses through films like News (2005), Shhh! (1993), and Tarle Nanmaga (1992), and television serials like Papa Pandu, Mangalya, Jokali and Robo Family. Dingri Nagaraj has appeared in 165 movies and enjoyed a flourishing career in the Kannada film industry.

On the other hand, Mimicry Dayanand is a popular actor, standup artist and TV presenter. He is also quite popular for his impressions of actors and politicians and is widely appreciated by his fans. He also won several awards for the same. While these celebrities were presented with the honour, the state government also selected 10 organisations and 68 individuals who were awarded for their remarkable contributions across various domains.

The primary awardees include ISRO Chairman S Somanath, Chidambar Rao Jambe for theatre, K Leelavathi Baipadithaya in Yakshagana, Dingri Nagaraj and Bank Janardhan from the Kannada film industry. Besides these giants, individuals like C Naganna, Subbu Holeyar, Dinesh Amin Mattu and Maya Sharma whose contribution to journalism is immense, were also given the award.

Speaking about the award distribution, Minister Shivraj Thangadagi said, “We gave one award to all the districts earlier but this time, 10 associations have been awarded. He said that two people who have crossed the age of 100 will also be presented with the award.

The Rajyotsava Award is the second-highest civilian award which is given by the Karnataka government every year to the people for their contribution to different fields.
