Ramayana: Sakshi Tanwar Dissmisses Rumours Of Being Offered Role In Ranbir Kapoor's Film

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been grabbing headlines ahead of its formal announcement. There are a lot of reports about the new actors joining the mythological drama. A recent also claimed that popular actress Sakshi Tanwar has joined the cast and will be playing Mandodari’s role. However the actress has now refuted the rumours. The film has Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role.

In an interview with Zoom TV, Sakshi said, “I haven’t been approached for the part.”

A Filmibeat report has mentioned that the directors have cast Sakshi Tanwar as Mandodari, Ravan’s wife, in the Ramayana. A source told the entertainment portal that Nitesh already has a perfect cast in place for Ramayana, adding that Sakshi is decided as Mandodari, Ravan’s wife. She is excited to share screen time with KGF star Yash and has been going to team script-reading sessions. According to the source, not just her, but even Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh were part of the reading sessions. Lara is supposedly going to play the lead role of Kaikeyi, while Rakul will play the lead role of Shurpanakha.

The film also reportedly stars Sai Pallavi in the lead. In the meantime, a new report has now claimed that Ramayan might not begin filming this year. The film allegedly has ‘several internal issues’ that need to be resolved before they could start filming. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The project is on. But not this year.” The insider added, “There are too many internal issues to be resolved.” The report also claimed that costumes are also another reason for the delay. “The costumes are not ‘lavish’ enough,” the report mentioned. Nitesh and Ranbir are yet to address the claims.

In Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the role of Lord Ram. Sai Pallavi has been roped in for the role of Sita. KGF star Yash is also likely to play Ravana in the movie whereas Sunny Deol has reportedly been locked for the role of Hanuman. Bobby Deol and Vijay Sethupathi are also reportedly in talks for the roles of Kumbhakarna and Vibhashana respectively. It was recently reported that Amitabh Bachchan has been finalised for the role of King Dashrath in the movie. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now.
