New Delhi: The Air Sahara pilots' strike continued for the third day on Tuesday, but six of the pilots reported back to work.
However, 12 flights, including the Delhi-Singapore flight, three flights to Kolkata, one each to Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jammu and Pune were cancelled on Tuesday.
The airline is saying they have informed passengers in advance about the change in schedule. Several Air Sahara pilots are on leave since Sunday, leading to cancellation of flights across the country.
The pilots have been agitating against their lower pay packet since Jet Airways bought over Air Sahara last year in a $500-million deal.
They are protesting the service conditions they will be forced to follow once Sahara is merged with Jet. Once that happens, many of them may have to face pay cuts.
"Air Sahara should give us the option whether we should join Jet Airways or not. They cannot sell the pilots and engineers along with the airline as a commodity," agitating pilots said on condition of anonymity.
The pilots want their pay and seniority to be protected by Jet Airways.
Though their was no official word from Air Sahara, senior officials of the air carrier said only six to eight pilots reported 'sick' even as Seemanto Roy, son of Sahara Pariwar chief Subroto Roy, held talks with the agitating pilots.
