New Delhi: Four days after they went on a mass leave, Kingfisher Airlines pilots were back at work on Monday. The decision to return to work came following assurances from Vijay Mallya that they will be paid their salaries.
Most of the pilots who are back at work are Mumbai-based. The pilots are likely to meet on Monday evening to decide future course of action.
Company CEO Sanjay Aggarwal had also met the pilots on Sunday, dispelling reports that the airline would be shut down.
A spokesperson had on Sunday said that Aggarwal had met a group of the company's pilots recently to appeal to them not to stay away from flying duties which could hit the airline's operating schedules.
"At no time was there any suggestion that Kingfisher airlines would shut down," the spokesperson had said, denying speculation in a section of the media.
The KFA management is making all efforts to get its bank account unfrozen and co-operating with the Income Tax Department over its pending issues, to ensure timely payment of salaries, start further recoveries of its aircraft and resume normalcy in operations, the spokesperson said.
In the past few weeks, the cash-strapped KFA's flight schedules were seriously affected on account of its pending problems with various government departments.
