New Delhi: The Group of Ministers (GoM) on the merger of Air-India and Indian will meet on January 15 to study suggestions on the proposed deal.
A Committee of Secretaries (CoS) has given its suggestions on the merger which would be done under the guidance of the GoM headed by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee
The Civil Aviation Ministry wants the merger process to begin by April 1, and before that the Union Cabinet is likely to approve the final proposal of the GoM.
Accenture, consultants for the merger, has started working on the most important aspect of the entire process -the ways to integrate the staff of the two carriers as well as their subsidiaries, Air-India Express and Alliance Air.
The government has assured there would be no retrenchment of any staffer. The managements of the two carriers have also started consultations with the employees.
Accenture is also likely to be asked to handhold the proposed new merged entity for one year to ensure that the entire process is completed by March 2008.
