This move by the Swiggy platform is poised to increase tourism in Kashmir as Dal Lake is one of the prominent tourist destinations.

The idea of food getting delivered to a houseboat seemed unbelievable but now the online food delivery platform Swiggy has initiated practical measures to make this idea a reality. Swiggy has announced that they will be delivering the food to houseboats in Kashmir’s Dal Lake. Dal Lake is one of the famous recreation and tourism spots in Kashmir and is named Jewel in the crown of Kashmir.

Talking about the new development, Sidharth Bhakoo, National Head of Business, at Swiggy Food, said, “The Swiggy houseboat delivery is a great example of Swiggy’s mission of offering unparalleled convenience, no matter where the consumer is. Our food delivery by Shikhara initiative exemplifies our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our customers, whether they’re exploring the city streets or relaxing on a houseboat.” Swiggy has teamed up with Shikara operators who will assist the local delivery partners in navigating Shikaras to reach the houseboats.

Recognising the longer delivery times compared to traditional road deliveries, Swiggy ensures fair compensation for the effort of the local delivery partners. This move by the Swiggy platform is poised to increase the tourism levels in Kashmir as Dal Lake is one of the prominent tourist destinations. With the creative step of delivering the food at houseboats, the tourists have the twin benefit of relishing the cuisines and watching the picturesque view of the Dal Lake.

Swiggy’s outlets were started in Srinagar in 2022 and have witnessed tremendous growth, offering food from over 300 restaurants to the residents and tourists across the city. With a massive footprint in food delivery, Swiggy Food collaborated with nearly two lakh restaurants across 600+ cities.

Swiggy has also introduced the Discount Self-Serve product for the benefit of its partners. According to the platform, it is termed a revolutionary tool that equips partners with the ability to configure flexible discounts and track their performance at just the click of a button.
