In Tamil Nadu, Prices Of Brinjal Fall As Supply Surges After Good Rainfall
Brinjal is massively grown in the areas of Kambam and Uthamapalayam in Tamil Nadu.

As the Indian population increases, the demand for fresh fruits and vegetables is also increasing. Due to their perishable nature and short shelf life, it is important to have a regular production of fruits and vegetables. Farmers grow certain types of grains, fruits and vegetables depending on the type of soil, weather and various other important conditions. Weather is one of the most important factors that determines the growth of a particular crop.

In the past years, there have been situations where incessant rainfall has destroyed the vegetation, leading to a shortage of certain fruits and vegetables on the market. This also increases their price in the market, affecting the general public. Recently, rainfall has led to an increase in the supply of one vegetable, which is leading to a fall in its price in the market.

The vegetable that has seen a major fall in its price due to high supply is brinjal. Brinjal is massively cultivated in the areas of Kambam and Uthamapalayam in Tamil Nadu. Many farmers in the nearby areas produce brinjals which are then brought to the Kambam market and exported to different parts of South India like Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

In the past few weeks, the area has been receiving a good amount of rainfall, which has helped in the yield of brinjals. This has led to an increased supply of brinjals in the market and the prices of the vegetables have been falling significantly.

The situation has created a lot of problems for the farmers as they have to sell the brinjal at a very low price as it is a perishable vegetable. As per reports, they are selling brinjals at prices as low as Rs 10 per kg. The lower prices offered and massive supply have been creating trouble for the farmers.

Recently, the prices of vegetables went quite high in the market. Tomatoes were being sold at Rs 200 per kg, making life difficult for the general public. But now, the prices of tomatoes have fallen back to Rs 20–25 per kg.
