The Tamil film industry has recently been producing some of the most popular films in India. The performances of the actors and actresses have also left an indelible mark on the audience. One such film that created hype was Jigarthanda, which was released in 2014. Now, the sequel to the film has been released, which is titled Jigarthanda Double X. The film hit theatres on November 10 and has impressed the audience with its engaging plot and fantastic performances. The film is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and stars Raghava Larence and SJ Suryah in the lead roles. So, let’s take a look at the review of the film.
In the first part of Jigarthanda, a director wants to direct a film on the life of a gangster. But in Jigarthanda Double X, a gangster is in search of a director to make a biopic of his life. While searching for a director to make the film, the gangster, played by Raghava Lawrence, finds an inmate, SJ Suryah, in the jail, who agrees to make his biopic. It is found that the inmate is a director. The first half shows how they meet and engage with each other and how their relationship grows over time. In the second half, it is shown how these two characters try to make a film. Director Karthik Subbaraja has also raised the issue of politics and land encroachment in the area. There is also an issue of ivory smuggling that is fully explained in the film.
The first half of the film has been quite entertaining and crisp, while the second half is a bit lengthy and weak. But overall, the film has been receiving a good response from the audience.
In terms of the performance, both Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah have impressed everyone. Raghava has portrayed a character that is different from his usual way of acting. On the other hand, SJ Suryah has excelled in his character and has shown different qualities beautifully.
The cinematography has been beautifully done by Tirru, and the music has played along well with the story, which is given by Santhosh Narayan.
