WATCH: Mohammad Rizwan, Marco Jansen Involve in Heated Exchange, PAK Star Offers Hug to Proteas Pacer Later

Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and Proteas pacer Marco Jansen got involved in a heated exchange during the ODI World Cup on Friday at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Rizwan came out to bat early on Friday after opener Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed early in the seventh over, Jansen had a golden opportunity to dismiss the wicketkeeper batter on the first ball but he dropped a catch on his own bowling

Rizwan pushed the first ball towards the bowler and Jansen failed to hold on to the tricky catch on follow-through. The wicketkeeper batter slashed the ball hard on the next delivery as the ball raced away for a boundary at the third-man region.

The Proteas paceman got a bit frustrated after that and had a heated exchange with the Rizwan, the two gave each other a mouthful.

On the last ball of the over, Jansen once again said a few words to Rizwan after he played a dot ball. The wicketkeeper batter responded with a smile as he put his hand on the heart and then spread his arms which seemed like he was offering a hug to the left-arm pacer.

Rizwan was later dismissed by Gerald Coetzee for 31 as he hit four fours and a six during his stay in the middle.

Meanwhile, with his first boundary, Rizwan completed 2,000 One Day international runs on Friday.

Rizwan has been prolific in this World Cup with 333 runs in 6 innings so far.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat in their World Cup match against in-form South Africa.

Pakistan have lost three matches in succession after winning their first two. They were forced to leave out fast bowler Hasan Ali who has a fever.

He is replaced by Mohammad Wasim while spinner Mohammad Nawaz comes in for Usama Mir in a like-for-like change.
