PBKS stand-in skipper Sam Curran expressed his delight with the historic triumph and the manner in which the side from Punjab fought to pick up the points on the day after losing four games on the trot coming into the fixture.

“It is very pleasing. Most importantly the win,” the Englishman began.

He also joked about the insane number of runs being scored in the ongoing season of the IPL.

“Cricket is turning into baseball,” he jested.

The 25-year-old said he was proud of his side for holding on despite near misses in the previous outings.

“We have had a few tough weeks. But we hung in there. The way the guys train, the confidence the coaches provide, the small grounds and the dew, the reviews that might give you an extra ball, all play a part. We hung in there and managed to chase it down with balls to spare,” he said with visible glee on his face.

Jonny Bairstow played wrecker-in-chief as his unbeaten 108-run knock off just 48 deliveries, which featured 8 fours and 9 sixers helped the side mount the huge target.

He was ably supported by Shashank Singh, who also remained unbeaten at 68 runs off just 28 deliveries, after opener Prabhsimran Singh had given an electric start to the chase with his 20-ball-54-run knock.

Curran said he was pleased that Bairstow had found his form after a bout of challenging turnouts and hailed the impact of Shashank on the fortunes of the team.

“Pleased for Johnny. What an amazing knock. Shashank Singh has been the find of the tournament for us. Ashutosh as well. Proud of everyone,” he concluded.
