England batting legend Kevin Pietersen has advised the Indian selectors to closely observe Punjab Kings spinner Harpreet Brar during the ongoing IPL 2024. Brar was the standout performer for PBKS in their narrow defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday night.
RCB were at a solid spot in the chase of 177 at 86/2 thanks to a well-set Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar driving the innings forward.
Enter Brar and he turned the contest around with the quick dismissals of Patidar on 18 and Glenn Maxwell on 3.
Patidar was bowled after getting an inside edge as he attempted to clear the midwicket boundary. Maxwell too fell while forcing the issue, chopping on as RCB slipped to 103/4.
Goodness me, doesn’t the IPL just serve up so much sporting joy? How good was Harpreet Brah last night? Indian selectors MUST keep a close eye on him for the WC!
And, my boy VK, you buddy, are more than joy – ????

“How good was Harpreet Brah last night?” Pietersen posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Indian selectors MUST keep a close eye on him for the WC!”
The Indian selectors will be keenly watching the IPL 2024 as they settle on a squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be co-hosted by the West Indies and USA Cricket.
Brar made his IPL debut in 2019 and has since taken 21 wickets from 30 matches at an economy of 7.53.
Brar played a key role in helping his domestic team Punjab win their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a India’s domestic T20 tournament. He was their leading wicket-taker with 15 scalps at an economy of 7.23.

Meanwhile, Kohli was the top-scorer of the RCB vs PBK contest held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The batting superstar made 77 to pick up the player-of-the-match award having played a starring role in the four-wicket win.
“And, my boy VK, you buddy, are more than joy,” Pietersen added while praising his former RCB teammate.
Kohli said it wasn’t the usual flat pitch that the venue is known for and hence he had to make adjustment to play proper cricketing shots.
“I try to give the team a blazing start, but if wickets fall, you have to understand the conditions as well. Wasn’t the usual placid pitch. It was a bit two-paced. And I thought I need to play correct cricketing shots. Playing across the line wasn’t working,” Kohli said after the match.
