The Gujarat Titans' Rashid Khan got the big wicket of Heinrich Klassen and followed it up by taking a stunner to dismiss Aiden Markam.

The Gujarat Titans are in front after restricting the Sunrisers Hyderabad to just 162 runs at the end of the first innings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT’s ace, Rashid Khan was in the thick of things as he got a crucial wicket and took a stunning catch to put the pressure on the visitors.

The leg-spinner has been a vital cog for the Gujarat Titans’ success throughout the past two seasons and continues to showcase his class today. He got the big wicket of the South African Heinrich Klaasen who has been in a rich vein of form since the start of the season and looked set to go for another big innings.

But Rashid struck the crucial blow as got the wrong un crashing onto the stumps to end Klaasen’s innings. The batter was furious with himself following the dismissal as he went and punched his own bat in a fit of rage as GT looked to finish off the first innings strong.

The 25-year-old spinner despite not picking up any more wickets, was still involved in the game as he took a stunning catch to get rid of Aiden Markram in the very next over.

Standing at the long-on region, Rashid came charging in towards the circle as Markram chipped one just past mid-on which was taken by the Afghanistan skipper for a stunning diving catch.

The all-rounder will have a crucial role to play as they aim to make a hat-trick of qualifying for the playoffs. Having played their first season two years ago, GT have already made themselves a top-tier side having won the title once and playing in back-to-back finals as well.

GT managed to restrict SRH for a par score with Mohit Sharma’s spell at the death proving to be a decisive factor in the second innings. But Shubman Gill’s side will have a tough test up against the two-paced nature of the pitch which could be an advantage SRH look to exploit.
