'It’s Going To Be…': Adam Gilchrist Makes Bold Prediction For Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist has made his predictions for the upcoming edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which starts on November 22 in Perth.

India and Australia will face each other in a five-match Test series later this year. The 2025 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled to start on November 22 in Perth, and the action will then shift to Adelaide, where both teams will face each other in a day-night Test. The last three Tests are set to take place in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.

India has won the last two editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played in Australia, and under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, the players will be eager to complete the hat-trick of series wins this year. Ahead of the high-voltage red-ball series, former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist has made a bold prediction about the result of the series.

According to him, it’s going to be a tough series for both teams, and even though he will back Australia to win the series, it will be a very close call.

“It is going to be another tough series for both teams. Onus is on Australia to prove they are the dominant force at home. India knows how to go away and win overseas. Their fast bowling line-up at the moment is up there, on a par with most around the world. They are going to enjoy the conditions here. Besides, they have a terrifically talented batting line-up. It is going to be very, very even,” Gilchrist was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

“Naturally, I am going to say Australia; I hope they get there. But it is too close to call. It will be a close tussle,” he added.

India has won the last two editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia by a margin of 2-1. During the last Test series Down Under, India made a sensational comeback after getting bowled out for just 36 runs in the second innings of the first Test in Adelaide.

Before Gilchrist, his former Australian captain Ricky Ponting also made a prediction about the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and he backed the Pat Cummins-led side to end the decade-long wait for a series win over India.

“It’s going to be a competitive series, and as I said, I think Australia’s got a bit of a point to prove against India in Australia on the back of what’s happened in the last two series here,” Ponting noted.

“I’m obviously going to tip Australia to win, and I’m never going to tip against Australia. So I’m going to say 3-1 to Australia.”
