The visitors had a tough start after they were asked to bat first. Jasprit Bumrah bagged the prized wicket of Virat Kohli in the third over while Akash Madhwal got rid of Jacks who was on his debut for the Royal Challengers. RCB were reduced to 23 for 2 when skipper Faf du Plessis was joined by Patidar and the duo took the Mumbai bowlers to the cleaners, stitching an 82-run partnership for the third wicket.
Patidar smashed 4 sixes and 3 boundaries during his 50-run knock. He hammered back-to-back sixes to Gerald Coetzee to reach his first fifty this season. He looked to make it 3 in 3 but couldn’t time his pull and holed out to Ishan Kishan off a short delivery.

Earlier, Bumrah removed Kohli for the fifth time in the IPL history.
It was the third over when Bumrah came into the attack and started troubling Kohli with his varied lengths. The pacer set up the RCB opener with a short ball and then bowled fuller before pitching one at a good length. Kohli looked to swing across the line but the ball caught an inside edge and MI stumper Ishan Kishan dove to his left and completed a fine catch.
