It is no secret that Virat Kohli’s fitness has been a benchmark, not only in cricket but in the realm of sports and the former India skipper’s unwavering discipline and determination have made him one of the fittest, if not the fittest cricketers in the world, even at the age of 35.
Right from his fitness regime to diet, Kohli’s mantra for success is an open secret, and divulging a bit into what it takes to be as fit as Kohli, noted broadcaster Jatin Sapru shared an interesting anecdote about the great man in a podcast. Sapru mentioned there was a season on IPL in which Kohli only ate baked chicken and steamed veggies to keep himself fit. He went on to say, Kohli had told him he had long stopped eating food for taste.

In one IPL season, he ate only baked chicken and steamed veggies or something; for the entire season. He does not think, today I will eat something else. No, this is what I will eat,” Sapru said in the Ranveer Show Podcast, adding, “he told me once, he has stopped eating for taste. He said I know my body needs this much gram of certain things and that is the only thing take is made and eats.
Once on a flight, I saw him carrying a big bag that had a coffee set, nut set, protein bar set, and timing, he knew, after half an hour he had to eat it. There is this routine, there is that discipline. He does the boring, and doing boring is the toughest thing to do,” said Sapru.
