Jasprit Bumrah's brilliance with the ball left Mohammed Siraj mighty impressed and it reflected in how the RCB star greeted his opponent during the post-match handshake.

Mumbai Indians are firing on all cylinders after a poor start to their IPL 2024 campaign. They stormed to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday night to climb up to the seventh spot in the standings.

The foundation of their victory was laid by Jasprit Bumrah who took a five-wicket haul and thus became the first bowler in IPL history to do so against RCB. He surpassed the previous record of 4/10 set by Ashish Nehra in 2015.

Bumrah’s masterclass left Mohammed Siraj mighty impressed and it reflected in how the RCB pacer greeted his countrymate during the customary post-match handshake.

Siraj bowed down to Bumrah, a gesture to acknowledge the MI star’s excellent bowling figures of 5/21.

Twice during the contest Bumrah found himself on the verge of taking a hat-trick as he dented RCB’s progress before Dinesh Karthik’s blistering half-century propelled the visitors to a challenging total.

Bumrah first got rid of in-form Virat Kohli after inducing an inside edge from the RCB opener’s bat to have been caught behind. He then returned in the slog overs to dismiss the well set Faf du Plessis on 61 before sending back Mahipal Lomror for a golden duck.

Saurav Chauhan managed to survive the hat-trick delivery bringing an end to the over in which Bumrah took two wickets while conceding just five runs.

However, Bumrah got rid of Chauhan in his following over and removed Vijaykumar Vyshak for a first-ball duck to complete his hat-trick.

The 30-year-old thus became the fourth bowler in IPL history after James Faulkner, Jaydev Unadkat and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to take two five-wicket hauls.

“Very happy with the contribution. In this format, it’s anyway very harsh on the bowlers so you have to have all kinds of skills,” said Bumrah after receiving player-of-the-match award for his bowling.

MI will next take on Chennai Super Kings this Sunday in what promises to be a blockbuster clash.
