Delhi, UP Schools to Remain Closed Today Due to Ram Navami
All government and government-aided schools in states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar will be closed today because of Ram Navami

Due to Ram Navami and Durga Ashtami, schools in several states will remain closed today, April 17, 2024. All government and government-aided schools in states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar will be closed. It is to be noted that, other than the above-mentioned states, schools in Haryana will not be closed for the entire day.

Ram Navami 2024: Check the State-Wise List of School Holidays

Uttar Pradesh: To honour the religious significance of the Ram Navami festival, the state government has announced a holiday on April 17, 2024. All schools will remain closed tomorrow to allow teachers and students to participate in the celebrations and observe the day with devotion.

Bihar: Schools will also remain closed in Bihar on account of Ram Navami. The Nitish Kumar-led government has announced a special closure for Ram Navami to ensure that students and teachers have the opportunity to take part in the religious festivities and spiritual reflections associated with this auspicious occasion on April 17, 2024.

New Delhi: The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, has included a school holiday on the occasion of Ram Navami in the recent academic calendar. According to the DoE academic calendar, all government and government-aided schools will remain closed on April 17, 2024. This decision has been taken to honour religious observances and ensure that teachers and students celebrate this significant festival with reverence and joy.

Haryana: The Directorate of School Education (DoSE) has issued an official letter to all district elementary education officers and district education officers stating the change in school timings on the occasion of Durga Ashtami. As per the official order, all schools in Haryana will operate with a two-hour delay, that is from 10 AM till 2.30 PM on April 16, 2024, to allow families, students, and teachers to celebrate the Durga Ashtami observances.

Ram Navami is a Hindu festival observed across the country with profound reverence to commemorate the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu in Hindu mythology. This auspicious occasion is celebrated with great fervour, and devotees visit temples and offer special prayers and pujas to seek the blessings of Lord Rama on the day of Ram Navami.
