The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, has commenced the online counselling process for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (IIT JAM) 2024. Students who have obtained scores equal to or greater than the JAM 2024 cut-off marks for their particular category are eligible to apply for JAM counselling 2024. Candidates can fill out the IIT JAM 2024 counselling application form through the official website of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras at jam.iitm.ac.in. It is to be noted that the last date to submit the IIT JAM 2024 counselling form is April 24.
During IIT JAM 2024 counselling, applicants will be given three alternatives. The first one is “Accept and freeze,” which involves reserving their seats by paying the seat booking fees after accepting the option allocated to them.
Second comes the “Accept and upgrade” option, in which candidates agree to the allotted option but keep a lookout for better opportunities in the following rounds, typically receiving higher preference in subsequent IIT JAM 2024 admission lists.
The last option is “Reject and quit,” which allows applicants to deny the allotted option and withdraw their name from the list.
IIT JAM Counselling 2024: Seat Booking Fee
After the seat allotment announcement, candidates who accept the seats will be required to pay the seat booking fees for IIT JAM 2024. Applicants falling under the General and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories are required to pay Rs 10,000. On the other hand, candidates belonging to the Physically Handicapped (PH), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories, will have to pay Rs 5,000 as IIT JAM seat booking fees.
