Railways Mandates Aadhaar Verification For Job Applicants In New Recruitment Policy
This rule applies to all the recruitments done in the RRB, Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force.

After the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exams, Railways has also made Aadhaar card verification compulsory for the candidates. As per a notice issued by the Railways Recruitment Board, the aspiring candidates for the Railway jobs will have to undergo Aadhaar card verification. This rule applies to all the recruitments done in the RRB, Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF). The Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force are the two law-protecting bodies that are responsible for taking action against the accused in Indian Railways. GRP and RPF have different rights and duties.

The Railway Recruitment Board has advised applicants to authenticate their identity through Aadhaar verification while applying for its various Centralised Employment Notices (CEN). According to the board, with Aadhaar verification, it will become easier for the applicants to sit in the examination centres and the subsequent process will also become simpler.

The RRB notice has also made a provision for the candidates who have applied for RRB recruitment during 2024 and have already submitted documents other than Aadhaar in their application. These documents include the driving license, passport, PAN, voter ID, etc. The board said that they can verify their Aadhaar identity by clicking on the www.rrbapply.gov.in. RRB has also clarified that this Aadhaar verification is a one-time process. After that, it will be valid for applications for all future jobs.

Other important points in the notice

1. RRBs will not save or share Aadhaar details with any third party or use them for any purpose other than the aims of the respective CENs.

2. The aspirants are advised to refer only to the websites of RRBs for the latest updates on the recruitment process. They should not be misled by unauthenticated sources.

3. The candidates should beware of the unscrupulous people who can misguide the candidates with false promises to get them selected for the job. The board mentions that it is illegal. The recruitment process for the RRB exam is fully computerised and the selection will be based purely on the merit of the candidates.

UPSC employed the Aadhaar-based verification after the Puja Khedkar controversy. Khedkar’s candidature was cancelled by the UPSC in July and has been accused of cheating and wrongly availing OBC (Other Backward Caste) and disability quota.
