Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes strongly in his precocious squad. He has defiantly claimed that his Arsenal side are better than both Manchester United and Manchester City, despite having lost against both teams already this season.
The Gunners shot themselves in the foot by surrendering the lead against United before eventually losing 2-1. The London club also matched Mark Hughes' side for most of the first half on their visit to Eastlands, before City ran riot after the break to emerge 4-2 winners.
Wenger believes that the performances in those two matches prove that they are as good as, if not better than, the two Manchester sides, and that they just needed to translate that into wins.
"There is a belief after the games against Manchester United and Manchester City that we are stronger than them. We have to transfer that into points and wins," said Wenger, according to The Belfast Telegraph.
"I am not talking about the whole package, but on the basis of that match we should not have any inferiority complex. We'll see when the season ends."
Wenger reiterated that he was happy with his squad and did not see the need to spend all the funds he had available to him in the summer.
"I had £30 million in the summer, and I spent £10 million on (Thomas) Vermaelen. Apart from that I did not want to buy," he said.
"We have an unbelievable squad. Against Wigan, (Nicklas) Bendtner was on the bench, (Theo) Walcott, (Andrei) Arshavin, (Samir) Nasri, Denilson did not play."
