Leverkusen: Barcelona defender Dani Alves says his side will keep fighting for the Spanish title despite falling 10 points behind Real Madrid.

Alves said on Monday, "As long as the title remains undecided, we'll keep fighting and we'll see what happens in the end."

The Brazilian was acknowledged the "points difference is big" in the Spanish league and said his side would congratulate Madrid if they break Barcelona's three-year hold on the title.

Barcelona lost 3-2 at Osasuna on Saturday, allowing Madrid to stretch their lead by beating Levante 4-2 on Sunday.

But Alves isn't giving up just yet, saying Barcelona must "keep fighting. It's a question of honour, of prestige."

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, though, believes they have the league title in their hands after opening up a 10-point lead over Barcelona.

"We are happy because we have been on an upward line," Higuain told Marca. "The truth is we don't think we are there yet, but there is much more. La Liga is in our hands, but we have to keep working."

Fellow striker Karim Benzema echoed his teammate's call for the side to maintain their focus.

"We played a great game, but now we must continue. The difference in points with Barcelona is great, but we still have to keep fighting because there's a long way to go. This is not over yet. We're pleased to be top, and so we celebrated the victory together, however, we recognise that we have to go match by match."
