A former Premier League footballer has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of rape from a London hotel. According to a report in The Sun, the 24-year-old in question was arrested from Corinthia Hotel in Whitehall Place on the complaint of a young woman. He’s been released on bail though.

“A 24-year old man was arrested at 09.53hrs on Wednesday, 9 October at an address on Whitehall Place, SW1A, following an allegation of rape,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson was quoted as saying by the publication.

“He has been bailed until a date in mid-December. A woman is being supported by specially trained officers. The investigation is ongoing and enquiries are still being made,” the spokesperson added.

The Sun quoted a source as claiming that the complainant met the player at a bar before the two went back to his hotel.

“She met the player in a bar and agreed to go back to his hotel, where he had booked into earlier. She claims he then attacked and raped her,” the source claimed.
