The Bundesliga season is yet to begin, but Bayern Munich's new coach Pep Guardiola is already a frustrated man, which showed in the way he slapped Thiago Alcantara during Bayern's 4-2 defeat in the German Super Cup final to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Dortmund led 3-2 in the 76th minute despite Arjen Robben scoring in the 54th and 64th minutes, and Guardiola vent his anger with a slap to Thiago's face.
Guardiola and Thiago both come from Barcelona and share a rapport, but Guardiola does get carried away in the heat of the moment, which could explain the unwarranted incident.
Guardiola, who won 14 titles in four years at Barcelona, looked discernibly disturbed in his post-match comments. "I don't have the feeling that they played much better than us ... We played well. We did things right," he said.
Bayern finished 20 points ahead of Dortmund in the Bundesliga besides beating them in the Champions League final and the Super Cup to complete a treble under Jupp Heynckes last season.
