Manchester: Manchester City and Aston Villa appear to have agreed to a deal to take England midfielder James Milner from Birmingham to Eastlands.
Widespread reports on Tuesday indicate that the two clubs have finally concluded what has been one of the summer's longer-running transfer sagas.
Milner is expected to travel to Manchester for a medical later on today, with personal terms not foreseen as an issue that could hold matters up.
It now looks as though City midfielder Stephen Ireland will move in the opposite direction, subject to a medical, as part of the deal.
No details of the fee involved have been released, though it is anticipated that the total value of the deal, with Ireland moving the other way, will be in the region of £25 million.
