Zack Synder Plans To Cast ‘20-Year-Old’ Actor For The James Bond Film

Film director Zack Synder can be hailed as a master in the superhero genre. He has proved his expertise in films like Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. His latest rendition Rebel Moon, although a sci-fi film, bears the imprint of the same. However, in a recent interview, when Zack Synder was asked about making a return to the director’s chair for an upcoming DC film, the director gave a blunt response. According to Synder, he was now more focused on creating an original IP, specifically for a James Bond movie with a younger actor, rather than helming a superhero movie.

In an interaction with The Atlantic, Zack Synder questioned, “I mean, like, how much IP is there?” The director added that he was not after DC CEO James Gunn to direct a new superhero project anymore. His eyes were set on making an original IP to match Rebel Moon’s “resonance and cool”. “It’d be cool to see, like, 20-year-old James Bond. The humble roots that he comes from. Whatever trauma of youth that makes you be able to be James Bond. There has to be something there,” he added, as cited by Variety.

Following the release of No Time to Die in 2021, Daniel Craig’s role as James Bond came to an end. The franchise’s creators are currently working out how to revive the film series for his next lineup of adventures, the report mentioned. While Zack Synder is interested in introducing a younger version of the acclaimed secret agent James Bond, producers are not fond of the idea.

Earlier, rumours were doing the rounds that Tom Holland was in the discussion to be roped in for a younger James Bond. However, Michael G. Wilson — the producer of the franchise, refuted the speculations. Shedding light on who will essay the titular character of James Bond, Wilson stated that he would be a “30-something” actor, almost the same age as Daniel Craig when he debuted in Casino Royale in 2006.

Rebel Moon is Zack Snyder’s newest original IP endeavor, released on December 15. The film is available to stream on OTT giant Netflix. According to reports, Rebel Moon’s second installment, titled Rebel Moon: Part 2 — The Scargiver, will premiere in April 2024.
