Minecraft allows you to craft all manner of things. But making them actually useful and usable can be trickier. If you want to build a chair that "works" - one that you can actually sit on - it is doable once you know how.
Make sure that you collect 3 trapdoors, 1 minecart, some rails, and a pickaxe of any type (optional).
Place the three trapdoors in a box pattern so that the doors take on a chair-like formation. Leave the front side where you want your seat to be empty.
Place the two rails facing towards the spot where you want to sit. A basic diagram is below. _ | | ^ The rails would be faced in the direction the small arrow ( ^ ) is.
Place the minecart on the rail farthest away from your chair and push it into place. This can take a few attempts, so if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!
Remove the rails, and voila! A working chair in Minecraft!
