How to Use the D.O.T.S. Projector in Phasmophobia
The D.O.T.S. Projector was introduced to Phasmophobia as a new tool to hunt down ghosts. This is a laser light projector that can catch ghost movement as they pass through. You'll just need to find a hard surface to place it down. This wikiHow will explain how to use the D.O.T.S. Projector to find entities in Phasmophobia on your PC.
Things You Should Know
  • Find a hard surface. When you see the outline of the projector, press "F" to place it.
  • The D.O.T.S Projector will turn on automatically after being placed. Place a video camera in front of the dots.
  • If a ghost interacts, you should see a white silhouette quickly walking or crawling through the dots.

What is the D.O.T.S Projector?

The D.O.T.S Projector casts a matrix of green dots to reveal ghosts. As a popular survival game, Phasmophobia gives players plenty of tools that can help determine which entity is haunting the grounds. Once the light is set up, you'll just need to watch closely for a white silhouette to pass through the dots. If you see movement, this can be used as evidence towards your final guess. The D.O.T.S. Projector will work on the following entities: Banshee, Deogen, Oni, Phantom, Raiju, Thaye, Wraith, Yokai, and Yurei. The Projector will also work on a Goryo, but you must be looking at the dots through a video camera to find movement.

Using the D.O.T.S. Projector

Find a hard surface. This could be a wall, floor, ceiling, or door. When you find a suitable surface, you'll see the outline of the D.O.T.S. Projector.

Press F to place the projector. Once placed, green dots will appear all around the walls. You can choose to place more than one projector to cover more area. Keep in mind the entity will only show if you have the correct location. Look for common signs of haunting, such as power outages, bones, fingerprints, etc.

Place down a video camera. While you can stand in the room and watch the dots, it's safer to do so from the van, especially if you're playing with someone who scares easily. Additionally, some entities—such as the Goryo—will only be revealed with dots through a video camera.

Return to the van and switch the monitor to Night Vision. The dots will be easier to see in the dark. Click the mouse to swap between the modes.

Look for movement. When an entity passes through the D.O.T.S. Projector, you should see their white silhouette pass through quickly. The entity will either be running or crawling. It will be fast, but it will be very clear. If you see anything while in the room, stay calm. The entity is simply interacting with the D.O.T.S Projector; it shouldn't be actively hunting. If some time passes and you don't see any movement, you could have an entity that can't be traced with a D.O.T.S. Projector. In this case, you'll need to try a different method.

What's your reaction?
