1 killed in bus-lorry collision in Salem

SALEM: One person was killed and 20 others hurt in a bus-lorry collision near Ayothipattinam on Sunday morning.As per sources in the police, a private bus was on its way to Salem from Attur. At a place called ‘sixth mile’ near Ayothipattinam, the passenger bus collided with  a lorry approaching from the opposite  direction.  While one person, Kanchana (42) of Ponammapet was killed on the spot, many other passengers in the bus were injured.  The Karipatti police later arrived at the spot and arranged medical aid.  Four of the injured were shifted to a private hospital in Ammapet while 16 others were taken to the Salem Government Hospital.  Kanchana’s body was sent for postmortem, police said.
