BANGALORE: A 12-year-old girl ended her life by hanging herself at her residence at Nanjappa Block in Kempegowda Nagar police limits on Monday. The deceased Jayashree, was a seventh standard student at Acharya School in Chamarajapet. She was the only daughter of Basappa, a clerk at Rashtrotthana Parishat and Roopa, a clerk at a sub-registrar’s office. The family hails from Kodagu district.The police said that the girl had test at the school. She came home at around 3 pm. When her father came home at 5 pm, he noticed that the door was locked. He peeped through a window and found that the girl was hanging from the ceiling of a room with a veil.“The reason for the suicide is not clear. It is suspected that she might have felt lonely as she was staying alone at home as both her parents are working,” the police added.The reason for her extreme step is yet to be ascertained.A postmortem was conducted at Victoria Hospital mortuary and the body was taken to her native place. The police have registered an unnatural death case.
