Hyderabad: Fifteen members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were on Tuesday suspended from the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
The suspensions came as their demand for Telangana statehood continued to obstruct the proceedings of the House for the second consecutive day.
Ever since the resignation of their party president K Chandrasekhar Rao and his deputy A Narendra from the UPA government, TRS members have been continuously stalling proceedings of the state assembly, forcing its adjournment without transacting any business.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, TRS members, waving placards and raising slogans, stormed the Speaker's podium and insisted that a discussion on the Telangana issue be taken up.
As the ruckus continued, Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved a motion seeking suspension of the TRS members.
The Speaker then announced the suspension of 15 TRS members present in the House for one day.
The agitating members refused to leave the hall and had to be escorted out by marshals.
Seventeen TRS members had been suspended from the House for obstructing proceedings on Monday.
