HYDERABAD: A registered medical practitioner (RMP) B Prem Sagar ignored the calls from 'naxalites' demanding 'party fund.' It was this negligent attitude that cost him his life finally when the 'naxals' came directly and threatened him with firearms."I have seen these things (air pistol) before,'' he told naxalites when they pointed an air pistol to him demanding money. Irked over his response, one of them opened fire on him from a 7.65 pistol killing him instantly.
Prem Sagar was shot dead in his clinic at Devammabasthi in Jeedimetla on September 21 night. Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested the two accused, who posed themselves as naxalites and tried to extort money from Sagar.According to Cyberabad police, the two accused, T Ravinder alias Ravi and P Shyam Rao, are natives of Arepally village in Kalva Srirampur mandal of Karimnagar. The duo used to work in the same security agency in the city earlier.
After sometime, Shyam quit the job and left to his village while Ravi is presently working in G4 security services and a resident of Jagadgirigutta. "The duo were in financial problems and decided to extort money from rich people in the locality by posing as naxalites,'' Cyberabad police commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said adding they purchased a pistol, six live rounds, two magazines and an air pistol to extort money. They finally narrowed down on Prem Sagar, who has a flourishing business in the locality. The duo started making telephonic calls to the RMP demanding Rs 10 lakh as party fund but the latter ignored the threats. ``On Septemeber 21 night around 10 p.m the duo walked into his clinic. Showing the air pistol, Shyam identified himself as the caller who has been demanding money in the name of party fund. Prem Sagar ignored the threat and said that he will not get perturbed by seeing dummy pistols. Enraged over his remarks, Ravi, who was at the entrance, pulled the trigger and the bullet hit Sagar killing him instantly,'' police said.
