Khaps from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh will be participating in the meet. Women in villages across North India had reportedly given a call for a discussion over female foeticide to try and build a consensus over what should be the Khaps' respective stands.

Organizers say the opinion has always been divided, thus they are having this Maha Panchayat for clarity. Women's issues and women will also be allowed to speak to convey their point of view.

Representatives from the more prominent Khaps will be speaking one by one putting their stand across. The discussion will range from foeticide, to honour killings and dowry hassles as well.

The focus will be on organizers say they are expecting a healthy discussion on a host of issues and are confident to come out with a decision by the end of they day.

They clarify the timing of this Panchayat has nothing to do with the television programme 'Satyamev Jayate' having taken up the issue.
